Cette pièce, datée de Tours, le 15 mai 1582, émane de dom Antoine, bâtard d'un frère du cardinal-archevêque de Bragance. A l'instigation de Catherine de Médicis, qui, au mois de juillet 1582, envoya une flotte française aux Açores, dom Antoine déclare maintenir ses droits à la couronne de Portugal, usurpée par Philippe II.
