  • This manuscript contains the text of all the Pauline epistles together with the Glossa Ordinaria: (ff. 5v-32v) Romans; (ff. 32v-55r) First Corinthians; (ff. 55r-69v) Second Corinthians; (ff. 69v-76v) Galatians; (ff. 76v-84v) Ephesians; (ff. 84v-89v) Philippians; (ff. 94v-98v) First Thessalonians; (ff. 98v-100v) Second Thessalonians; (ff. 100v-111r) First Timothy; (ff. 111r-115v) Second Timothy; (ff. 115v-118r) Titus; (ff. 118r-119r) Philemon; and (ff. 119r-137v) Hebrews. These are not the only Biblical texts in the manuscript. The flyleaves contain fragments of the Gospels and the books of Maccabees, separated by liturgical prayers. The first two leaves of the codex itself contain notes on passages from the New Testament, written by o.a. Jerome and Origen. Lastly, fol. 5r has a poem named 'Versus de mysterio missae', written by Hildebert of Lavardin (d. 1133), bishop of Le Mans and later archbishop of Tours. The manuscript dates to the thirteenth century, more specifically the second quarter of that century, and is located by Janzen on stylistic grounds to another abbey, probably Cistercian, in France or Flanders. She also credits this codex with probably being the oldest intact manuscript surviving from the Ten Duinen abbey. As with most copies of the Glossa in the collection, the text of the epistles is written in a central column with interlinear glosses, and surrounded by two columns with glosses. Titles and initials have been added in red ink, and a few initials are decorated. The binding is contemporary and a prime example of an early Cistercian binding: calf over oak boards, with traces of clasps and metal mounds. On the final leaf we find a ownership inscription of the Ten Duinen abbey, together with a remark on the manner of acquisition: 'ex dono magistri Franconis'. De Poorter has theorised that this is the same as Franco de Maldegem, provost of Saint Donatian's in Bruges. More recently however, Janzen has questioned this identification.
