Origine: italienne, écritures gothiques «bononienses», légèrement arrondies. A la fin, f. 250, note de copiste: «Explicit iste liber sit crimine scriptor liber».
Possesseurs: peut-être le cardinal Giordano Orsini, un «Plinius de naturali ystoria» est mentionné dans le catalogue de sa bibliothèque (cf. F. Cancellieri, De secretariis veteris basilicae, 2, Rome, 1786, p. 906). Le manuscrit figure dès 1454-55 dans les inventaires des manuscrits de la Basilique S. Pietro.
