Après avoir été esclave, ʿIsa Neǧati fut attaché au service des deux fils du sultan Bayezid II, Abd ʿAllah et Mahmoud ; il mourut en l'année 914 de l'hégire (1508), à Constantinople. Neǧati réunit les pièces de son divan sur les instances du kazi-ʿasker Mouayyidzade ʿAbd el-Rahman Čelebi (m. 922 de l'hégire = 1516) ; il commence par les kaside à la louange de Bayezid II et de ses deux fils ; au recto du folio 3, se lisent des chronogrammes qui indiquent la date de la mort du poète.
