  • La première unité codicologique a été copiée au Nord de la France dans le deuxième quart du XIIe siècle ; la seconde unité a été copiée par une main anglaise à la même époque.
    Le volume a appartenu au XVe siècle à l’abbaye de Saint-Martin de Sées (cf. les ex-libris aux f. 1r et 3r « Liber sancti Martini Sagiensis », et au f. 121r : « Iste liber est de Sancto Martino de Sagio »).
    Au XVIIe siècle le volume faisait partie de la bibliothèque de Saint-Germain-des-Prés (cf. au f. 1r, dans la marge interne, l’ex-libris : « Sancti Germani a Pratis » et, sur la marge inférieure, les cotes anciennes « olim 726 » et « N. 1316 »).
    Il entra dans la Bibliothèque Nationale entre décembre 1795 et février 1796, avec d’autres manuscrits de Saint-Germain.
