  • Manuscript 82, from c. 1151-ca. 1175, contains commentaries on the works of Augustine of Hippo (354 - 430). The manuscript was made at Ten Duinen Abbey. The text was written by Florus of Lyon, a deacon in Lyon at the end of the eight century and the beginning of the ninth century. His commentaries on the works of Augustine are arranged in order of Paul's letters. Florus focuses on the theological motive of mercy in his work. The manuscript has some simple decoration: large initials in red at the beginning of each book. Marginalia are added in with references to Paul's letters, Augustine's work and citations. The manuscript is bound in a seventeenth-century binding of the 'Campmans' type. [Summary by Dr. Mark Vermeer]
