Manuscript 302 is a collection of (mostly) letters, three of which were written by Peter Damian (d. 1072/3): (ff. 1v-23r) a letter by Peter on the attraction to earthly delights, also known as De contemptu saeculi; followed (ff. 23r-110v) by a compilation of Peter's sermons, letters and songs (carmina); and (ff. 111r-113r) another letter. Between the last two texts (ff. 110v) a fragment of a letter by Lanfranc, bishop of Canterbury, (d. 1089) is copied. The manuscript was copied in the first quarter of the thirteenth century, probably in Ten Duinen. The text is written in two columns per page, with red ink used for the initials. On the second last fly leaf an ownership inscription of Ten Duinen abbey is found. The manuscript is bound in a seventeenth-century binding of the 'Campmans' type. [Summary by Dr. Mark Vermeer]
