Ce manuscrit est issu de la Bibliothèque de Ferdinand Ier d'Aragon et a ainsi fait partie de la Bibliothèque des rois Aragonais de Naples ; vendu à Georges Ier d'Amboise (avant 1504), cf. inventaire de 1508 : "Andree Contrarii reprehensio in Platonis couvert de cuyr violet gamy de fermaus de loton.". On le trouve inscrit dans l' inventaire du château de Gaillon après le décès de Georges II d’Amboise en 1550 : "Joannis Andree reprehensio in Platonis etc.". Il disparaît de Gaillon après 1550. On peut reconnaître différents possesseurs avant l'entrée de ce manuscrit dans la bibliothèque de l'abbaye de Saint-Germain-des-Prés : René de Sanzay ; le chancelier Pierre Séguier ; l'héritier de sa bibliothèque, Henri du Cambout, duc de Coislin , évêque de Metz. Il entre en 1796 dans les collections de la Bibliothèque nationale.
