    • Ce Daniel, moine de Scété et peut-être supérieur d'un monastère de cette laure, apparaît dans plusieurs recueils des «Apophtegmes des Pères» et des «Gerontica», en grec, en syriaque, en arabe, en copte, en éthiopien et même en arménien. La plupart de ces récits présentent une forte apparence légendaire, et aucun n'est antérieur au VIIe siècle. - Un moine de ce nom a peut-être existé à Scété au VIe siècle. Les récits qui lui sont parfois attribués ne présentent pas plus de preuve d'authenticité que ceux qui le concernent (Source : BnF)
