B. L. FRANCOIS HOTMAN OU HOTOMAN, natif de Paris, l'un des plus grands Jurisconsuls de nostre temps, & lequel a fait profession du droit en plusieurs Universitez tant de la France que d'Allemagne & autres lieux, homme fort bien versé en l'histoire, & autres sciences. Il a traduit de Grec en François l'Apologie de Socrates escrite en Grec par Platon, imprimee à Lyon l'an 1549. par Sebastien Gryphius. Quant à ses oeuvres Latines j'en feray mention autrepart. Il florit à Basle en Alemagne cette annee 1584. Le livre dudit Hotoman intitulé Francogallia, ou la Gaule Françoise, a esté imprimé plusieurs fois en Latin & en François, auquel Antoine Matarel a fait response.
